Amazon Cloud Service Glitch Caused Disruptions in Japan
The Index Today
After some companies from major online brokerages up to the top mobile phone carriers and a leading airline suffered disruptions to their operations, Japan’s Kyodo news agency finally said that a glitch in Amazon Web Services has been resolved on Thursday.
Amazon spokesperson had said the company was working to restore its system but declined to give a statement on how many customers were affected by this glitch.
Online Brokerages like the SBI Securities and Rakuten Securities were among the companies that reported delays in price data feeds and other major system glitches.
The largest airline company in Japan, ANA Holdings, said some flights were delayed after the system glitch that caused a temporary outage affecting its ticketing and check-in system, which was later restored.
