Apple Inc: AirPods Pro Could Potentially Work as Hearing Aids in Near Future
The Index Today
Apple Inc. is conducting new research to transform air pods into a health device aimed to improve hearing and monitoring body vitals.
The plans reflect the corporation’s ambition and interest in moving beyond its current functions and expanding towards healthcare technology. According to documents reviews by the Wall Street Journal, the company will explore routes to enabling iPhones to diagnose healthcare disorders such as depression.
However, no confirmation has been received on what specific device Apple Inc will be working on. The company may look into developing specific AirPods with hearing aid or add features to its existing AirPods to improve hearing. AirPod Pro which were launched last week come with a feature called “conversation boost” which automatically boost volume and clarity of voice.
Apple Inc is already working on certain prototypes for AirPods which can detect core body temperature and can work as a thermometer. The AirPods would rely on motion sensors embedded inside which would notify users to improve their posture when slouching.
The company aims to help millions of people across globe who suffer from hearing disabilities and impairments. The U.S Food and Drug Administration FDA is expected to introduce new regulations which will allow companies to sell hearing devices directly to consumers.
AirPods bring in around $12.8 billion in revenue and have been dominating the global Bluetooth headset industry due to advanced features including built-in microphones, sophisticated processor and an amplifier.
The FDA is currently working on improving rules and regulations to allow hearing aids to be marketed over the counter. The new regulations will allow various tech firms including Apple Inc, Samsung and Bose to provide cheaper, more effective hearing aids directly.
