Biden’s Climate Action Plan to Rely Mainly on Regulation after Manchin Decision

Following West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin’s dismissal of the tax-and-spending bill, US President Joe Biden will now have to turn to the law to achieve his target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030.
The Build Back Better Act had included a whopping USD 550 billion provision to help counter the effects of climate change.
The Biden administration can still meet their target by effectively imposing more stringent rules governing greenhouse gas emissions. However, this could possibly change under future governments

Despite the setback, Senate Finance Chairman Ron Wyden contended, “Failure is not an option here. This is our last chance to prevent the most catastrophic effects of the climate crisis.”
