China Imposes Lockdown on City of 9 Million amid Fresh Surge of COVID-19 Cases

On Friday, China imposed a lockdown on the northeastern city of Changchun which is home to 9 million people amid a surge in the number of Omicron cases in the region.
As per the new lockdown mandate, only one family member is permitted to step out to buy food and other necessities while everyone else is expected to remain indoors in adherence to the latest COVID-19 protocol. It also includes the suspension of transport and non-essential businesses while requiring residents to consent to three sets of mass testing.
According to the Associated Press, this comes as China reported another 397 cases of COVID-19 on Friday which had been locally transmitted across the nation.
