Elon Musk's Starlink gets an approval to Enter Philippine Internet Market

The Index Today

Philippines is one of the countries in Asia that is grappling with slow internet speeds, billionaire Elon Musk's high-speed satellite internet venture Starlink now gets an approval on Friday to enter the Philippines after its local unit secured regulatory approval from the country. This would allow Starlink to directly access satellite systems, and to build and operate broadband facilities.

The Philippines will be the first country in Southeast Asia to offer Starlink’s high speed, low latency satellite internet service.

NTC Commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba said in the statement, Starlink’s entry will benefit under-served areas in the Philippines. The government last year eased access to satellite technology to expand internet connectivity in the archipelago.
