The Index Today
Alphabet Inc.’s Google is pursuing a full-fledged device expansion operation marked by the launch of its smartwatch, the Google Pixel Watch, which is set to rival that of Apple’s.
According to Bloomberg News, the device was developed by Fitbit which was bought by Google in 2021 and also comprises its tracking features. Google Pixel Watch has a circular screen, similar to the majority of wristwatches, and will function using the WearOS software.
Although Google did not disclose the cost of the device, its Head of Hardware, Rick Osterloh revealed that it will be a “premium-priced” gadget.
The smartwatch will include features that would allow users to avail features such as Google Maps and tap-to-pay. Although the Google Pixel Watch will afford users 4G cellular connectivity like its Apple counterpart, it will not be compatible with the iPhone, reported Bloomberg News.
