Google Slapped with $2.4 Billion Lawsuit by PriceRunner in Stockholm
The Index Today
Nordic company PriceRunner AB is suing Alphabet Inc.’s Google at Sweden’s patent and market court over the latter’s alleged breach of antitrust laws.
The price comparison provider states in an email that Google had misrepresented search results to bolster its own price comparison facilities, thereby violating antitrust regulations. The company also hopes that the legal compensation due will be “significantly higher” than what is stipulated in the lawsuit given that the violation still persists.
Speaking on the matter, PriceRunner’s CEO Mikael Lindahl said, “This is also a matter of survival for many European entrepreneurial companies and job opportunities within tech.”
In response, Google challenged the lawsuit last month “because we feel there are areas that require legal clarification” from the judiciary.
