Hackers Violate Samsung’s Key Confidential Data, Gain Access to Source Code
The Index Today
Samsung Electronics Co. announced on Monday that the company has fallen victim to a hacking attack which, some claim, was masterminded by the hacking group, LAPSUS$, that had also targeted Nvidia Corp.’s systems previously.
Although Samsung is yet to confirm the identity of the hacker(s), the violation has infringed the company’s sensitive internal information including the source code that facilitates the running of its Galaxy smartphones. Bloomberg News reported that a spokesperson for the company assured continued customer data safety, saying that the tech giant has taken additional steps to thwart any possible attempts to further breach the company’s data.
Samsung said, “According to our initial analysis, the breach involves some source code relating to the operation of Galaxy devices, but does not include the personal information of our consumers or employees. Currently, we do not anticipate any impact to our business or customers. We have implemented measures to prevent further such incidents and will continue to serve our customers without disruption.”
