The Index Today

Cigna Corporation, a leading U.S health insurer group has named Eric Palmer as their new president and CEO Officer for its Evernorth health services unit. This branch mainly deals with pharmacy benefit management business sector. The unit was acquired with the Express Scripts buyout in 2018.

The announcement came on Thursday after the health services unit was rebranded for achieving unexpected growth targets over the last few months. Eric Palmer is expected to start his new role in January according to reports. The firms current CEO, Tim Wentworth is expected to retire by the end of the year.

Cigna has also revealed additional leadership changes which are aimed at accelerating the company’s growth and building a stronger portfolio. The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted the U.S health insurance industry, making it more challenging for companies to provide services. Some of the most notable challenges include increased costs of testing, vaccination and a high level of disenrollment.
