Iranian President Ready to Resume Talks but Without Western Pressure
The Index Today
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi stated that he is ready to conduct discussions with world leaders as long there is no “western pressure”. These talks will be conducted with regards to its 2015 nuclear accord and to seek negotiations to lift U.S sanctions which will benefit the nation.
Other superpowers such as France and Germany have insisted Iran to continue its negotiations after taking a break due to the elections occurring in last June. With the nation’s growing atomic abilities, France has asked for immediate restart of negotiations to discuss concerns without further delay.
Reports from the U.N nuclear watchdog pushed leaders including Britain to express concerns Iran’s growing production of uranium, which has been enriched up to 20% fissile purity. This has lifted production capacity to 60%.
However, Iran has said that its nuclear program is peaceful and is not related to the 2015 deal. The president told reporters, “The westerners and the Americans are after talks together with pressure…what kind of talks is that? I have already announced that we will have talks on our government’s agenda but not with pressure. Talks are on the agenda, we are seeking goal-oriented negotiations so unjust sanctions on the Iranian people are lifted and their lives can flourish.”
