Podcast Ads Help Boost Spotify Revenue and User Growth
The Index Today
According to Edison Research, Spotify has become the leading podcast platform in the U.S after reporting 75% increase in revenue and consumer growth.
Spotify CEO Daniel Ek said during an interview, “Getting into this, people questioned how we were going to handle the large podcast platforms and how we’d fare. We were right in our investments three years ago, and it’s paying off.”
Spotify’s number of active users increased 19% from last year to 172 million. The company’s shares also went up 7% to $270 during intraday trading on Wednesday. The company stated it had increased its promotional activities to help boost sales in regions where a decline was seen. The average revenue has also climbed 4% according to reports. Daniel Ek further said, “The choppiness we saw in the first half of the year was due to covid, and there are still markets being impacted by Covid, but across the board in our larger markets it looks like it’s largely behind us.”
The company reported growth on all its major Spotify studios and exclusive podcasts including “The Joe Rogan Experience”, “Call Her Daddy” and “Armchair Expert”. In comparison to performance in the prior sector, the company has increased its podcasts to 3.2 million from 2.9 million. Spotify is expected to see active user growth and estimates revenue influx of 2.54 billion euro in the last quarter.
