Qatar Airways Files Lawsuit against Airbus over Flawed A350 Aircrafts
The Index Today
Qatar Airways on Monday announced its decision to approach a court in the U.K., seeking a solution for its long-standing dispute with Airbus over sub-par A350 jets that it alleged compromises aircraft safety.
The airline company said that it has been left with “no alternative” but to obtain a legal resolution of the lingering issue after their domestic regulator grounded 21 (40%) of their A350 jets supplied by Airbus. Qatar Airways said in a statement, "We have sadly failed in all our attempts to reach a constructive solution with Airbus in relation to the accelerated surface degradation condition adversely impacting the Airbus A350 aircraft."
Airbus responded with its decision to “vigorously defend its position”, emphasizing the safety of the aircrafts in question regardless of slight “surface degradation”.
Irrespective of the outcome of such an unusual lawsuit, Airbus will likely lose out on a major Qatar requirement for a new A350 freighter model.
