S&P 500 and Dow Futures to Turn Bullish as Ukraine-Russia Ceasefire Hopes Rise
The Index Today
The S&P 500 and Dow futures are set to turn bullish on Monday, supported by the optimism surrounding peace talks between the warring nations of Russia and Ukraine.
The Dow e-minis surged by 177 points (0.54%) at 8:35am ET, while the S&P 500 e-minis rose by 15 points (0.35%), reported Reuters. However, the Nasdaq 100 e-minis dropped by 13 points (0.1%) spurred by a dip in Apple Inc. stocks after its supplier, Foxconn, halted production at its Shenzhen plant in adherence to the lockdown rules in China following the country’s worst outbreak since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March, 2020.
Great Hill Capital’s Chairman Thomas Hayes said of the Ukraine-Russia diplomatic negotiations and their impact on indices, "The most important headline is that they're going to continue talking and that's largely why the futures are up."
