Sony, Honda Team Up to Produce Electric Cars in Joint Venture

Sony Group Corp. and Honda Motor Co. are teaming up to establish a joint venture that will oversee the production of new-age electric cars. Their unnamed enterprise is expected to launch this year with the first EV model scheduled to be unveiled sometime in 2025.
The companies revealed that the new undertaking is set to combine Honda’s forte in vehicular and mobility technology and Sony’s specialties in telecommunication, network, entertainment, imaging and sensing automations.
Sony’s CEO Kenishiro Yoshida said in a statement, “Sony’s purpose is to ‘fill the world with emotion through the power of creativity and technology.” He further added, “Through this alliance with Honda, which has accumulated extensive global experience and achievements in the automobile industry over many years and continues to make revolutionary advancements in this field, we intend to build on our vision to ‘make the mobility space an emotional one,’ and contribute to the evolution of mobility centered around safety, entertainment and adaptability.”
