Study Shows Pfizer Vaccine Produced Most Antibodies
The Index Today
In a study conducted to check immune responses of four vaccines, Pfizer and BioNTech covid-19 vaccines showed the strongest immune response. Participants who took the Sinopharm vaccine were more likely to get another covid infection.
The underlying reason for varying response of protective antibodies found in different vaccines is yet to be determined. Factors such as active ingredients in each dose along with interval between two doses are likely to affect antibody response. The study was performed on a sample set of 196 immunized people in Mongolia. Authors have stated that the booster vaccine shots may be needed to manage the overall infection rates across the world.
Sam Fazeli, Bloomberg intelligence analyst said that the study did not mention further details about vaccine shot intervals. Mongolia has recently experienced rising coronavirus infection rates. Authors of the study further stated, “Faced with the public health crisis of increasing SARS-CoV-2 infections and limited supply or distribution of the most effective vaccines, widespread vaccination with a lower efficacy vaccine may still represent a route to decreasing infections, hospitalizations, and morality.”
