Toshiba Resumes Partial Chip Production at Quake-Affected Plant in Southern Japan

On Wednesday, Toshiba Corp announced that it has resumed moderate production at its Oita plant in Southern Japan which had been shut down after a considerable earthquake struck the area over the weekend.

According to Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corp, of the two manufacturing lines in their Oita factory, production has already resumed in one, although there are no reports of when the other line will restart its operations.

This plant is responsible for the manufacture of system LSI chips of which about 60% are supplied to car and industrial machinery manufacturers.
