U.S. Supreme Court to Consider Biden Administration’s Vaccine Mandate
The Index Today
The U.S. Supreme Court is gearing up to review President Joe Biden’s nation-wide vaccine mandate for major conglomerates and health officials as the country reels under the recent surge of COVID-19 infections.
The court is set to hear in-person oral arguments in two separate cases by parties seeking to challenge the mandate, which mainly comprises corporations, and religious groups, at the helm of various Republican-majority states. Disputants allege that the Biden administration is abusing its power by issuing directives that they claim to be infringing on the rights of Americans.
The legal cases coupled with the court’s right-leaning majority could potentially hamper Biden’s strategy to control the mounting cases of COVID-19 in the country.
The court has been conducting its operations remotely with all the nine current justices being fully vaccinated. As of now, the court remains closed to the public as it has been since March, 2020.
