The Index Today
According to White House officials, it is projected that over 900,000 children between the ages of 5 and 11 will be getting the first dose of the covid vaccine by the end of the week. The new vaccine rollout strategy was recently initiated to help bring down infection rates in the nation.
Jeff Zients at the White House stated, “While our program is just fully up and running this week, by the end of the day today, we estimate that over 900,000 kids aged 5 through 11 will have already gotten their first shot.” 15 million vaccine doses have been allocated for the specific age group with more in the supply chain. Many parents were unable to find vaccine appointments during the initial stages of the rollout program. However, as more children are getting vaccinated, more spaces for appointments are opening up at healthcare institutions.
Reports show that Walgreen Boots Alliance vaccinated over 200,000 children and is taking more appointments for the upcoming weeks. On the other hand, Children’[s Hospital Los Angeles expects around 90 children a day for vaccination and has already immunize3d 425 children since November 3rd.
Healthcare experts are saying that more children vaccinations should be expected in the coming weeks. CDC director Dr Rochelle Walensky said during a briefing that over 66 young children die from covid-related infections every day in the U.S.
