The tennis sensation has become the first British national to win major since Virginia Wade at Wimbledon in 1977. She is expected to bring home a prize of 1.8 million pounds and rise in world rankings to 23 which is an astonishing feat for tennis players her age.

Just a few months ago Emma completed her A-levels and scored high in maths and economics before starting her training for lower-tier matches to help her prepare for Flushing Meadows.

After winning the Grand Slam, Emma told reporters,

It means everything to hold this trophy and I don’t to let go right now. I’ve always dreamed of winning a Grand Slam. You just say these things. But to have the belief I did, and actually winning, I can’t believe it. For me, I don’t feel absolutely any pressure. I’m still only 18 and I’m just having a free swing at anything that comes my way.”

The young sports star has received the royal approval of the Queen who offered congratulations on Twitter along with the royal family.
