The Guardian on Sunday released a photograph of Britain’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson sipping wine at a garden party in his residence which allegedly took place during the lockdown of May 2020, a short time after his release from the ICU after contracting COVID-19.
This comes as Johnson battles existing allegations of holding and attending Christmas parties even as the country has enforced full restrictions in the face of rising Omicron cases in the U.K.
The PM’S team has alleged that the photo taken was that of official meetings which took place that day. A Downing Street spokesperson said, “Work meetings often take place in the Downing Street garden in the summer months. On this occasion there were staff meetings following a No. 10 press conference."
The Guardian reported that they obtained the photo after the Johnson’s office rejected claims of social gatherings in the PM’s residence.
