Britney Spears says Dad trying to Extort her for $2 million

Updated: Sep 15, 2021

Britney Spears has stated that her dad is asking for $2 million to exit her conservatorship. The latest court documents revealed that Britney Spears and her team are accusing her father of extortion. Although Jamie Spears agreed to step down voluntarily, his terms to exit the contract are in conflict of interest with the star.

Matt Rosengart, Britney Spears lawyer commented,

Britney Spears will not be bullied or extorted by her father. As we wrote in our new filing with the court, however, the quid pro quo preconditions that Mr. Spears’s sought in his August 12, 2021 court filing are inappropriate and unacceptable. Nor does Mr. Spears have the right to hold his daughter hostage by setting the terms of his removal.
This is not about him, it is about the best interests of his daughter, which as a matter of law, mandate his removal. Even putting aside the legal issues requiring his prompt removal, if he loves his daughter, Mr. Spears should resign now, today before he is suspended. It would be the correct and decent thing to do.”

Britney’s team is working towards resolving the matter soon and hopes that the courts will suspend him from the conservatorship which was implemented in 2008.
