The 2022 Grammy Awards were held on Sunday with pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo and R&B due Silk Sonic sweeping major wins. Jon Batiste won Album of the Year while Tyler, the Creator won the award for Best Rap Album.

Olivia Rodrigo dominated the night winning awards for Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Album for her album Sour, and Best Pop Solo Performance for her hit song “Driver’s License”.

The awards ceremony also featured a pre-recorded virtual address from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy as he pleads for his war-torn country. Zelenskiy said, “The war. What is more opposite to music?” “The silence of ruined cities and killed people. Our children draw swooping rockets, not shooting stars,” he added.

Jon Batiste concluded the event with a gracious nod to music saying, “I believe this to my core: there is no best musician, best artist, best dancer, best actor.” He added, “The creative arts are subjective and they reach people at a point in their lives when they need it most.”
