Lady Gaga in House of Gucci: Real-Life Trauma Shaped her to Play Patrizia

House of Gucci film is taking the spotlight in Cinema as world-renowned stars take to the red carpet for its premieres and events. The movie revolves around the story of Patrizia Reggiani, the Italian socialite who made headlines in 1998 after hiring a hitman to murder her ex-husband.

Lady gaga who plays Patrizia said,


For me, it’s real. There are a lot of things I’ve been through in my life, traumatic experiences, that I drew upon to play Patrizia.”

She plays opposite Adam Driver in the movie, and admits it has been one of the most challenging roles she has played so far. She said,


I feel like I’m reliving the technique of the process of building this film every day when I speak to you about it.” For the role, she adopted the method acting technique. “I was in character from six months leading up to the film, and then for the three and a half months that we filmed. I began with my accents, I would spend a lot of time talking to my family and everybody in my life to learn how to naturally speak with the Italian accent without it driving the acting,” She said.

Lady Gaga stressed how not all of the acts in the reels were acting, as some of the emotions came from her real life traumatic experiences. She drew upon her own personal experiences to create the character of Patrizia in the movie. The movie also helped her connect to her Italian-American roots and appreciate everything her family has done to let her be where she is now.
