The star-studded event, dubbed ‘fashion’s biggest night’, saw a flurry of celebrities and other famous personalities swathed in sumptuous silks and fabrics as per this year’s theme of ‘Gilded Glamour’. According to The National, the theme is grounded in New York’s Gilded Age between the years of 1870 and 1890 which reflects the period’s affluence and prosperity.
The event, which was attended by the likes of the Kardashians, Amber Valetta, Gigi Hadid, Billie Eilish, and Lizzo, bore witness to some of the most exquisite sartorial creations of all time. Kim Kardashian attended the event wearing Marilyn Monroe’s iconic ‘Happy Birthday, Mr. President’ dress which the late veteran actress wore 60 years ago at the-U.S. President John F. Kennedy’s birthday celebrations.
Blake Lively was a vision in copper and turquoise, garbed in an opulent gown inspired by New York’s symbolic Statue of Liberty which was, in fact, constructed during the Gilded Age. Tesla CEO Elon Musk also made an appearance alongside his supermodel mother Maye Musk.
