New York: Vaccinated Visitors Allowed to Join in the Times Square NYE Celebrations

According to latest official statements, vaccinated visitors can celebrate the famed New Year’s Eve ball drop tradition at Times Square this year. However, proof of covid-19 vaccination is mandatory to join in the event.




The announcement was made by New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio who said,

We want to welcome those hundreds of thousands of folks, but everyone needs to be vaccinated. All you need to do is have proof of vaccination and valid photo ID and you are in.

Last year the event was held virtually due to pandemic concerns.


Preparations for New Year’s Eve celebrations at Towns Square are underway to make the event as safe as possible. Tom Harris, Head of the Times Square Alliance took part in the press conference to celebrate the return of the world-famous New Year’s celebration. Al visitors above the age of five must show proof of vaccination and those without must have a negative PCR test conducted within 72 hours. Unvaccinated people must be wearing masks at all times during the event.
