Lapsus$: Microsoft Confirms Hacker Group Attack on Systems
The Index Today
Microsoft Corp. has confirmed that the hacker group Lapsus$ had violated its systems after the hacker organization claimed to have acquired the source code for the Cortana voice assistant and the Bing search engine.
According to Bloomberg news, Microsoft said in a statement, “Our investigation has found a single account had been compromised, granting limited access.” They added, “Our cybersecurity response teams quickly engaged to remediate the compromised account and prevent further activity. Microsoft does not rely on the secrecy of code as a security measure and viewing source code does not lead to elevation of risk.”
Lapsus$, which obtained “limited access” to Microsoft systems, has been behind a string of hacking incidents of late, following its system breaching of several government organizations and tech giants, including Okta and LG.
